NEWNAN, GA – Continuing their collaboration to support business women, the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce and Canongate Golf Clubs is expanding their efforts to strengthen the connections between women in business with the launch of a Business Women’s Golf League. Summergrove Golf Club, who hosted the initial business women’s golf outing, will play host to the Business Women’s Golf League. The kick-off meeting is Thursday, March 25 at 5pm at the Summergrove Golf Club, 335 Summergrove Pkwy, Newnan, GA. Beth Blevins, Canongate Golf Professional, will be on hand to provide a review of golf fundamentals and instructional guidance. Following practice and play, Canongate Golf Clubs will host a reception at the clubhouse for all participants. Please RSVP, no later than Monday, March 22, for the event at sgbwgl(at)yahoo.com.
League play will be a 9-hole round in the afternoons on the second and fourth Thursdays each month beginning March 25 through September 23. The play format will afford opportunities for women interested in learning the game of golf as well as providing challenging competitive play for all experience levels.
“By coming together as women business leaders to network, we can create opportunities to enhance and increase the professionalism and political and economic power of professional women,” explained Chamber Past Chair and Georgia Power Executive Jan Alligood.
The League dates on April 8th & 22nd will be dedicated to instructional play and league organizational activities. Both nights will conclude with a sponsored reception at the clubhouse. League play will begin Thursday, May 13 at 6 PM and is open to Canongate Golf members and non members.

Makes checks to SGBWGL (Summergrove Business Women’s Golf League). Cost for league play is normal member price for members and $25 for non members to be paid prior to play.

Robin Harrington, general manager of Junction Lanes, explained that this year’s tournament features a few new twists including an “At the Hop” Networking Game, “Spin the Wheel” when you make a strike, and “Mystery Shot” Contest for Cash. Junction Lanes serves as the annual facilities sponsor.
Immediately following the bowling tournament will be a Chamber “Business-After- Hours” networking event sponsored by Marketing Sense.
Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed team (50’s attire), the best-decorated lane, and the best combined score. In addition, to win prizes, individuals can compete in the Crazy Bowl and Out-Med “Mystery Shot” contests.
The best advertising deals in town can also be found as a part of the bowling adventure. Businesses can promote their products and services for an entire year to more than 338,000 people. Special deals are available for year-long banner ads, lane sweeps, and combo packages, starting as low as $100.
