    Small Business Saturday This Week November 25

    Small Business Saturday is an annual shopping tradition dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Founded by American Express in 2010, the event is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and supports the local economy while promoting our community.  Celebrate our small business owners this week by spending your dollars in Coweta's historic downtown communities.  Merchants participating from Downtown Newnan include: Arthur Murphey Florist, Blue Fern Merchant, Blue Moon Boutique, Corner Arts Gallery Studio & Gift Shop, Dolled, Downtown Olive & Kitchen Supply Co., Dragonfly Running Company, Ellie Mack Boutique, Fine Lines Art & Framing, Gillyweed, Greenhouse Mercantile, Grit & Grace Studio to Streetwear, Kendra's, Kendra's 2, Kyle Kahn Studios, Let Them Eat Toffee, Mayfair on the Square, Mimi and Me Boutique, Morgan Jewelers, Newnan Mercantile, Polish Me Pretty Nail Salon & Boutique, Smart Solutions, Inc., The Alamo, The Boyd Gallery, Typo Market, and Wildwood Trader.

    Congratulations Coweta on ensuring our economic future!

    Citizens made their voices heard at the polls on Tuesday, November 7 with an overwhelming majority voting to extend the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for another six years. The approved SPLOST will be a seamless continuation of the the current SPLOST which ends on December 31.  The one percent sales tax has been a continuous part of the Coweta community since 1986 and is projected to raise roughly $140 million over the next six years.

    One of the highlights of the civic year in Coweta County is the announcement of the Citizen of the Year.Nominations for the 2018 Citizen of the Year are now being accepted, and the winner will be named when the Kiwanis Clubs of Coweta host the Citizen of the Year dinner on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at The Newnan Centre, located at 1515 Lower Fayetteville Road in Newnan.

    This award is designed to honor an individual with outstanding leadership and citizenship within our community, someone who has demonstrated exemplary vision, civic pride, and a strong commitment to a better Coweta.  Nominations are due to the Chamber by Friday, December 1, 2017.
