Healthcare Report
One of six pillars that holds Coweta County’s economic prosperity up high is healthcare. Results from a recent study concluded that 10 of the 20 fastest-growing occupations are in the healthcare field. In the last decade alone, healthcare employment has increased by 23 percent.
The study also concluded that 21 new jobs are created for every new physician brought into the local economy, generating more than $2 million in local revenue. In the last decade, Coweta County has seen three new hospitals established, along with countless other healthcare facilities ranging from urgent care, specialty care, women’s health services, hospice and assisted living facilities, and a VA clinic. These facilities have not only succeeded in delivering compassionate care for local and out-of-state patients and their families, but they have also created an economic boon that has significantly impacted the community, even spreading into the educational sector.
