Please join the Newnan-Coweta Chamber in celebrating the ribbon cutting of Advance Auto Parts! Advance Auto Parts has been part of the automotive landscape for more than 90 years, with a fascinating story that began with a personal investment and a little entrepreneurial risk.
Founder Arthur Taubman sold his own car for $2,500 and borrowed additional money to purchase the company’s first store. What began as a small business would eventually grow into one of the nation’s leading automotive parts retailers.
During World War II, Advance Auto Parts even sold toys, demonstrating that the company was not always focused exclusively on automotive products. In fact, Advance originally operated as a general merchandise retailer before eventually shifting its focus to automotive parts, accessories, and services.
Today, Advance Auto Parts serves both do-it-yourself (DIY) customers and professional automotive installers. As of April 2026, the company operated more than 4,300 stores, along with additional independently owned CARQUEST locations.
From selling toys during wartime to becoming a major name in the automotive aftermarket, Advance Auto Parts has built a remarkable legacy of adaptability, entrepreneurship, and service.
