Doing good work comes with big responsibilities! Whether you're serving on a nonprofit board or working behind the scenes, understanding your role is essential to protecting your organization and its mission. This session will explore real-world situations where nonprofits can find themselves in trouble, the responsibilities of board members, and the important role staff play in maintaining accountability, transparency, and trust. Learn how to recognize potential pitfalls before they become major problems.

With more than 20 years of experience across corporate, nonprofit and social service sectors, Kristin brings a unique perspective to connecting business success with meaningful community impact. Prior to Yamaha, she served as CEO of the Coweta Community Foundation, where she guided organizational growth and helped raise more than $3 million for long-term disaster recovery efforts. Earlier in her career, she held leadership roles in nonprofit development and was recognized for her contributions to national organizational rebranding efforts. She later transitioned to the insurance industry, where she was recognized as one of the top 10 agents in the nation for personal annual volume.

Kristin is also the Director of Back on Track, a nonprofit providing financial assistance to injured motorcycle racers and their families. She serves on the Boards of Directors for Central Educational Center (CEC) and Centre Strings, and is a Customer Advisory Board member for LumApps.

A graduate of Winthrop University and an alumna of Leadership Coweta, Kristin has also served as a contributing instructor in the University of West Georgia’s Nonprofit Management Certificate program. She is passionate about using communications, employee engagement, and community partnerships to create meaningful and measurable impact.
